Living Coral is Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2019. Here’s how to incorporate it into your home and office.
Every year, Pantone names the Colour of the Year: a hue that represents the biggest décor and design trends – and touches on where we are as a society. This year, it’s Living Coral. Pantone calls it “a vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546, which embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.”
In short, Pantone chose Living Coral because, given the daily onslaught of social media, digital tech, and often-difficult news, Living Coral is the calm, authentic antidote we crave, filled with light-hearted optimism and joy. Want to use this heartening, warm colour to create gentle moments in your home? Here’s how:
Get the paint out
Don’t be afraid to add a lick of paint to a particular wall or door in your home. This is a great way to use colour, without it being too permanent. When you’re bored of it, just paint over it again! We suggest a cute coral front door or a bedroom wall. The warm tone will also help you sleep better.
Get textile happy
If you’re not quite ready to go big, introduce smaller, coral textiles for pops of warmth. Try a few coral throw pillows on the couch, a coral rug in the bedroom, or a chunky knit coral blanket to drape over an arm chair. The best part is the added texture you’ll add to your space.
Use it at work
Coral isn’t just for the home. If there is any place we need to feel calmer, and more optimistic, it’s the office. Get yourself a cute coral mug, invest in some coral stationery, and take a coral notepad with you. Apparently, coral is a colour that can also help to increase your productivity!
