Do you feel that? That little chill in the air? That’s officially winter – which means it’s officially time to hibernate for the next few months (which is helpful, considering we can’t really go anywhere!) But, now that you’re going to be indoors for another stretch, you might want to curate a beautiful winter bedroom space that will keep you feeling warm and cosy. Here’s how:

COLOUR CODE FOR CALM

Consider painting your room an off-white or beige or pastel colour – which are all calming. Take time to look at your bedroom art and wall hangings, and take down anything that doesn’t calm you or make you happy.

CHANGE UP YOUR BEDDING

When it comes to a winter bed, consider bedding with natural warming properties like goose or wool. For sheets, flannel is the way to go. If you go cotton, remember that the National Sleep Foundation recommends a 400 thread count or less because anything more traps body heat and could cause you to be too hot. But don’t forget to add thick, woollen blankets to the top of your duvet for a snug feel and look.


WARM UP THE LIGHTING


It gets dark a lot earlier in winter, and the sun rises later, so lighting is even more important in winter. The cosiest lighting will be in a yellow or warm white. Steer clear of heavy, top lighting, and instead go for cute bedside and standing lamps. Lastly, fill your room with candles or fairy lights for an extra cosy boost!



CONSIDER DARKER WOOD
